The COVID-19 crisis is shining a bright light on the challenges faced by undocumented homeless immigrants in Los Angeles County and across the country. At Al Otro Lado, we fight for all families that have been impacted by xenophobic immigration policies and that includes our unhoused immigrant community in Los Angeles and California. The #ATuLado: LA Homeless Migrant Fund will provide long term relief to our immigrant clients and to migrant families impacted by homelessness and the pandemic. The stories of our clients do not begin at the border and they do not end there either.

Al Otro Lado’s works to provide undocumented homeless clients with critical legal services, translation services, rapid response coordination, medical care, and temporary housing. Many of our homeless clients and families live in their vehicles, transitional shelters, and in the streets which deeply compromises their health, safety, and mental wellbeing. This fund will support Al Otro Lado to cover costs directly related to our homeless clients’ safety, wellness, and their emotional and mental health. This fund will directly cover costs related to emergency shelter, food and nutrition care, temporary emergency housing, medicine, diapers, cleaning supplies, basic survival necessities, as well as phone and internet costs to help unhoused migrants communicate. All families and that includes homeless immigrant families deserve access to care, food, shelter, and financial support to survive.

We need to work together to make sure our unhoused immigrant families and our communities stay strong and resilient through this crisis and beyond.

Join us in fighting for the lives and dignity of our most vulnerable clients in Los Angeles!
