I recently started working as a staff attorney with Al Otro Lado, where we're doing everything we can to protect the rights of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border and the greater Los Angeles area. Our team does everything from supporting deported parents separated from their children, hosting legal clinics for asylum-seekers in Tijuana, representing detained immigrants in their deportation defense proceedings, and providing care to unhoused migrants in Los Angeles. We serve trans and queer refugees, folks with serious mental and physical disabilities, unaccompanied children, survivors of domestic violence, and recent deportees. All our services are free, and are intersectional, holistic, and trauma-informed. Our team is strong and powerful, but we cannot do it alone.
