Dear Friends,
As you all know, I have joined Al Otro Lado, an amazing organization made up of few dedicated staff and volunteers that are doing everything they can to protect the rights of migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border and the greater Los Angeles area.
I have only been on board for a week and while I can say that I am truly touched by people's generosity, I can also say that there is SO much more work to be done and WE CANNOT DO THIS ALONE. WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The community that we serve includes deported persons separated from their families by inhumane immigration policies, refugee families fleeing for their lives, unaccompanied children, LGBTQIA refugees, and migrants with serious medical conditions.
I ask that this giving season, you consider making a donation (no matter how big or small- everything helps!) to Al Otro Lado. From know your rights advocacy, refugee accompaniment to the port of entry, direct legal representation of detained refugees, legal and case management services for deportees, and impact litigation designed to disrupt the system of injustice which violates the rights of the most vulnerable among us, your tax-deductible donation helps hundreds of individuals, children and families.
